No-exam life insurance

Overview: who qualifies for fast-track underwriting, the review process, and what happens if you don't qualify.

Many carriers offer accelerated underwriting: for applicants within age and coverage limits, underwriting happens without a medical exam.

What it changes

Skipping the exam does not mean skipping verification. Your statements are cross-checked against records, and a policy is issued only after review.

Who tends to qualify

Generally, applicants under 60 seeking coverage up to the carrier's approved limit, without certain medical flags, can receive an underwriting decision without an exam.

If an exam is necessary, a paramedical examiner will visit you at home or work for 20 to 30 minutes to collect health data.
